About Me
I joined the Kaiser Permanente San Jose family in July 2020 and graduated medical school in 2019. My passion for psychiatry is personal. A close family member of mine was diagnosed with a mental health disorder while I was in college. People treated her differently afterward, and this was deeply upsetting to her and myself. The stigma against her made me want to fight for, and help, others like her. From that, I pursued a master's degree in Neuroscience, which is where I discovered my unwavering interest in the overlap between the brain and the mind. Within Psychiatry, I believe it is our job to give patients a safe, open environment in which they can work through their daily struggles and become more aware of their world. Psychiatrists should be teammates on that journey of self-discovery, and I try to bring this thought process into all of my patient interactions.
Hobbies and Interests
Performing classical music, playing with my dog, reading fiction, sudoku, seeing live music and watching hockey.

Sarthak Angal, MD

Sarthak Angal, MD
About Me
I was born and raised in the bay area, spending most of my childhood in Cupertino. I stayed local for my undergraduate education, attending University of California, Davis where I studied genetics and earned my bachelor’s degree in 2013. I returned to the bay area for medical school and graduated from Stanford in 2020. I joined Kaiser Permanente as a resident in 2020 and am thrilled to continue to give back to the community I grew up with. During my time in medical school, I studied mental health issues in youth. I saw how conditions such as depression and anxiety can have a significant impact on an individual at all stages of life. Furthermore, this impact can extend to friends and loved ones. However, I also saw patients take steps and ultimately achieve recovery by working together with their entire care team. The privilege to be a part of that journey to recovery is what ultimately drove me towards psychiatry. I strongly value the patient-physician relationship and believe forming a partnership with my patients and understanding their perspective and goals. I consider this the best path to wellness. I am excited to train as a resident physician at the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Psychiatry Residency!

About Me
Within my practice, I work to provide patient forward collaborative care and developing a patient physician relationship that is based in non-judgement, listening, and working together. I am dedicated to staying up to date with evidence-based medicine and approaching mental health through a multimodal approach including psychotherapy, and quality medication management. I believe focusing on optimizing healthy practices including sleep, mindfulness, diet, exercise, and relationships are key to finding a balance and promoting well-being. My goal is to nurture coping mechanisms and wellness strategies to help you do whatever you love most in life. I received my undergraduate training at University of California San Diego and decided to pursue a career in medicine. I spent time training in Boston receiving a master’s degree from Boston University SOM. I moved to New Orleans to pursue my medical school training at Tulane University SOM. I joined Kaiser Permanente San Jose in 2020 as a Psychiatry Resident.

Carolina Galindo, MD

Carolina Galindo, MD
About Me
My love for psychiatry was born through the patients I met and was fostered through their life stories and the beauty that underlies the human mind. Psychiatry has given me with the privilege of providing care at the moment when a person needs it the most, helping people transition into a better state of health and well-being. The core of my practice philosophy is deeply rooted in the idea that patient understanding, connection, and collaboration is all an essential part of the healing process. This appreciation and respect for all these parts allows me to truly grasp that person as an individual and provide the best care possible. I look forward to working with the richly diverse people of the Bay area but have a special interest in minority mental health, community outreach, patient-centered care. I’m honored to join the Kaiser family as part of the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Psychiatry Residency Program as I embark on the journey that is my training.

About Me
I received my undergraduate degree in English from Rice University, received my medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern, and joined Kaiser Permanente San Jose in 2020 after graduating medical school. I am excited to be a resident physician in the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Psychiatry Residency program! My goal is not only to meet patient health needs, but also to get to know them as a person. I believe that understanding who they are and what is important to them better equips me to provide meaningful care.

Yazeed Ibrahim, DO

Yazeed Ibrahim, DO
About Me
My interest in medicine and specifically psychiatry was sparked by the lack of accessible, quality healthcare for all members of society I witnessed at a young age. The struggle to deliver quality psychiatric care to those who need it regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or any other barrier is what fuels my passion to practice medicine. The World Health Organization lists neuropsychiatric disorders as the leading cause of disability in the United States. I believe a strong patient-physician partnership is essential in alleviating the burden of these illnesses. My interests include neuroscience, psychoanalytic theory, depression, anxiety, healthcare accessibility, global health, and immigrant and refugee health. I received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of California, Irvine, and Master of Science in Global Medicine at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine before completing my medical education at Des Moines University. I am now thrilled to be part of the Kaiser family as a psychiatry resident physician.

About Me
My medical education was completed at the University of California, Riverside in June 2020. I have recently moved to the Bay Area to complete my psychiatry residency at Kaiser Permanente San Jose. As a psychiatrist, I hope to work with patients and their loved ones toward wellness. I aim to develop a personalized treatment plan for each individual. Every person has a diverse life experiences and knows themselves best. My job is to help guide those decisions using medication, therapy, and other treatment modalities. I am excited in learning about your story and see how I can help walk with you towards the path of recovery. My areas of interest include cross cultural psychiatry and minority mental health. As an immigrant with diverse life experiences, I have seen the importance of the socio-cultural formation in medicine. I have also participated in numerous advocacy efforts both in the past and present, with the mission of supporting health equity towards patient care. I chose to join Kaiser Permanente for its mission to celebrate diversity in healthcare. At Kaiser Permanente, you will be supported with compassion, exceptional patient care, and approachable staff.
