Medical Students – Educational Tracks - Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Elective

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinical and Research Selective Student Elective

Incorporating OMT into our practice has been an essential part of our patient care and professional wellness. We have a group of primary care physicians who love the integration of OMT and primary care, who are dedicated to fostering a learning environment that allows for the next generation of DO’s to grow and learn, hoping that you will treat us one day!

We are offering a 2-week OMM elective opportunity for 4th year osteopathic medical students and 3rd through 5th year OMM Fellows.

Approximately 80% OMM clinic with 20% research time. You will get hands-on OMT training in our OMT clinics at Kaiser Permanente Alameda, Pinole, Vacaville, and Vallejo sites with primary care physicians.

Tuesdays are dedicated to review at Touro University’s OMT clinical skills lab or their OMT clinic on campus. There is an opportunity to participate in Touro’s Student Run Free Clinic practicing OMT Thursday evenings on community patients. Time allotted for a research project would be to develop a tangible osteopathic research project or participate in ongoing osteopathic research at Touro University or through Kaiser Permanente.

Students are expected to provide their own transportation for travel to KP sites.

Comments from our students: “KP is the only rotation I’ve had that offers experiences like this!”

Qualifications: Love of osteopathic medicine and desire to do primary care in your future career. Suggest completing Cranial course prior, but not required.
