How I Thrive
At work, 'the lightbulb moments' at daily report and at one-on-one mentoring sessions with my residents energize me. At home, my wife and two children are a constant source of joy. When I need to blow off steam, you can find me running the trails, riding my road bike, or playing or coaching soccer or just about any other outdoor activity.

About Me
Dr. Nardine Saad Riegels is a hospitalist and medical educator at Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Riegels received a B.S. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from UCLA, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UCSF and joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2010. Dr. Riegels has practiced internal medicine at the KP Oakland and Richmond medical centers since that time, as a primary care physician in the Department of Adult and Family Medicine from 2010-2015, and as a hospitalist in the Hospital Based Specialty Department starting in 2016. At TPMG, she also cultivated a passion for medical education, particularly in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement. This has included leading numerous patient safety and quality improvement initiatives for residency programs, including the creation of resident quality dashboards and development of resident and faculty curricula in quality improvement and patient safety. In addition to serving as Patient Safety Fellowship Program Director, Dr. Riegels is also the Kaiser Permanente East Bay Director of Medical Education, supporting all medical student, residency and fellowship programs at that medical center. She holds appointments as Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco, and Associate Professor at the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine in the Department of Health Systems Science. She is a member of the UCSF chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators, and the KP East Bay Academy of Medical Educators.

How I thrive
My husband and two young boys are a nonstop source of jokes and laughter. The young women I mentor, first in their families to attend college, are my inspiration.
