With our 2+2 schedule, we allow residents time to rejuvenate and relax throughout the year. We take pride in creating individual schedules to accommodate our residents’ interests and career aspirations. Our residency is rigorous, yet balanced, providing a strong education as well as family-oriented atmosphere, with fun among colleagues and friends. Our campus is easy to access from San Francisco, San Jose, Napa Valley, Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe. Our patients represent the Bay Area with a broad ethnic diversity as well as a large spectrum of medical conditions. - Our residency has two Ultrasound iPads which are for exclusive use for our residency for our dedicated Ultrasound curriculum.
- Stunning tertiary care facility with advanced cardiac therapies, cardiothoracic surgery, cancer treatment center, behavioral health center, and more.
- We are dedicated to the health and safety of our learners and ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment is available.
- Training and utilizing the medical technology of tomorrow including simulation, ultrasound, video visits, and telehealth to name a few.
- All residents are equipped with Kaiser Permanente laptops and are given individual Kaiser Permanente-formatted iPhones for access to medical charts, patient emails, as well as ability to direct text or phone communication with specialists.
Training Personalization

- Our goal at Kaiser Santa Clara is to help you personalize your training to best prepare you for the career you want. In addition to our CHOICE Primary Care Track we have pathways and targeted electives within the categorical track for residents interested in inpatient, outpatient, or specialty careers. - Away electives: All residents do an Infectious Diseases rotation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. We also have opportunities for away electives at associated institutions such as Stanford. We have had residents create their own away rotations with unique opportunities such as Medical Journalism.
- Kaiser Permanente residents have been engaged in Global Health. The mission of Kaiser Permanente’s Global Health Program is to facilitate participation from the residents. You can learn more about our Global Health program here.
- We have multiple associated underserved clinics offering numerous community health opportunities. Our Community Medicine track is available for those who wish to have a second continuity clinic at an underserved clinic.
