Internal Medicine San Francisco - Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Distinction Tracks

Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Distinction Tracks

KPSF Distinction Tracks are optional supplemental tracks which residents can elect to participate in across their R2-R3 years. These are longitudinal programs which offer supplemental clinical experiences, mentorship and didactic education within a specific area of interest. You will participate in a scholarly project of your choosing within your track and will graduate with distinction in your track area. The tracks we currently offer are the Medical Education Track and The Care of Populations Track, with options for Chinese-Speaking Communities, Latino Community, and LGBTQ+ Community sub-tracks.

Care of Populations Distinction Tracks

The Care of Populations Distinction Tracks are longitudinal experiences designed to deepen residents’ clinical expertise and foster meaningful connections with the communities we serve. Tracks currently include the Chinese-Speaking Communities Track, the Latino Community Health Track and the LGBTQ+ Community Track. Through focused clinical experiences in specialized outpatient settings, a structured curriculum, regular track meetings, and a longitudinal scholarly project, participants develop a deeper understanding of the unique linguistic, cultural, and clinical needs of specific patient populations while contributing to innovation in care delivery. These tracks are open to residents with interest in growing their knowledge of population care and a genuine passion for serving a specific community.

Medical Educator Distinction Track

The Medical Educator Distinction Track prepares the next generation of clinician educators, providing residents with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to excel in academic medicine. Grounded in evidence-based pedagogical practice, the track’s structured curriculum offers comprehensive training in lecture development and delivery, bedside instruction, curriculum design, and mentorship, equipping participants for careers at the forefront of medical education. Under the guidance of Kaiser San Francisco’s distinguished faculty, educators recognized for their exceptional contributions to teaching and scholarship, residents refine their abilities through interactive workshops, individualized coaching, and hands-on teaching opportunities across diverse clinical settings. Graduates emerge as accomplished clinicians and skilled educators, prepared to uphold the highest standards of medical training and shape the future of the profession.
