Internal Medicine Santa Clara - HOUSE Track

Background

In 1996, Drs. Wachter and Goldman, shared the term “Hospitalist” as specialists of inpatient medicine with the readers of the New England Journal of Medicine. The Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Hospitalist group is among the country’s first, initially starting with clinic physicians who transferred to work in the hospital and later, moving on to hiring new physicians solely as “Hospitalists” in 1998. Many of our original Hospitalists are active members of our HBS (Hospital Based Specialist) Group. Over the years, HBS has evolved with expansions and diversifying their practice. We invite our HOUSE residents to share in this broad yet specialized field and to increase their exposure and experience of Hospital Operations Underscored by Service Excellence.
