The Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Sacramento is the third year of a 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Thirty-Six Program. The program is affiliated with two programs: The New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Albuquerque, NM and Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA. Residents spend the first two years of their 36-month program at one of these two facilities. We currently take two residents from the New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System Albuquerque and two residents from Scripps Mercy San Diego. They are considered two separate residency programs by CPME.

In the third year of the program, the resident will rotate at Kaiser Foundation Hospitals – Sacramento, South Sacramento and Roseville – spending four months at each site.
The residents have extensive experience and exposure in all aspects of forefoot, rearfoot and ankle surgery. The amount of ankle and foot trauma is extremely impressive for the resident that wants the ultimate training in this area. In the third year the residents are assigned rotations in Podiatric Surgery and Podiatric Medicine and Clinic having completed all other required rotations in the first two years. There is also a rotation in Biomechanics.
