Junior Faculty Fellowship Program

KPCVEM Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship

The Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Emergency Medicine (KPCVEM) Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship is a comprehensive one-year advanced training program designed to develop future leaders in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) education, clinical integration, quality assurance, and scholarship. Fellows gain expertise in the performance and interpretation of core and advanced emergency ultrasound applications, including resuscitative, procedural, cardiac, pulmonary, abdominal, vascular, and musculoskeletal imaging. In addition to clinical mastery, fellows receive formal training in ultrasound curriculum development, faculty and resident education, quality improvement, program administration, and research methodology. Working closely with residency and health system leadership, fellows participate in regional ultrasound initiatives and develop the leadership skills necessary to direct ultrasound programs, advance POCUS integration, and contribute to the growing body of emergency ultrasound scholarship.

KPCVEM Junior Faculty Medical Education and Simulation Fellowship

The Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Emergency Medicine (KPCVEM) Junior Faculty Medical Education and Simulation Fellowship is a one-year faculty development program designed to prepare early-career emergency medicine physicians for leadership roles in medical education, simulation, and academic scholarship. Fellows receive mentored training in curriculum design, learner assessment, simulation-based education, debriefing methodologies, educational research, faculty development, and graduate medical education leadership. Through active participation in residency education, simulation center operations, and scholarly projects, fellows develop the skills necessary to design innovative educational programs, lead simulation initiatives, and contribute to the advancement of emergency medicine education. The fellowship emphasizes experiential learning, mentorship, and the development of a sustainable academic portfolio supporting future educational leadership positions.
