Podiatric Surgery - Podiatric Surgery Vallejo

Kaiser North Bay Consortium at Vallejo, Vacaville, Santa Rosa, and San Rafael

The Foot and Ankle Surgery program at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo is structured as a consortium model where our residents train at the Kaiser Permanente medical centers in Vallejo/ Vacaville, San Rafael and Santa Rosa. We select three residents per year for the PM&S 36 with Added Credential program. First-year rotations are completed at Kaiser Vallejo/ Vacaville except for a one-month rotation at Highland Hospital Emergency Room. The second and third years of training consist of rotating four-month podiatric surgery blocks at each of the three medical centers. Third-year residents dedicate an additional one-month rotation to the Level 2 Trauma Surgery service at Vacaville.

We provide high-level training in every area of podiatric medicine and surgery including extensive experience in Total Ankle Replacement, complex rearfoot and ankle reconstruction, and Level 2 trauma. Residents gain outstanding clinical experience with an emphasis on continuity of care, a team approach to limb salvage, dedication to evidence-based medicine and contribution to the scientific literature. Resident research is facilitated by a full-time Research Project Manager. Kaiser Permanente is a technology leader so residents train with the most advanced EMR and IT available. Foot and Ankle Surgeons in Kaiser Permanente Northern California are fully integrated into the medical community and residency training benefits from this exceptionally high level of parity.

Thank you for your interest in our program. If you have any questions feel free to contact me – Dr. Gray Williams at Gray.Williams@kp.org.

Selection Process

Kaiser North Bay Consortium selects residents through CASPR and interviews only at CRIP. We have a robust clerkship program but do not limit interview candidates to those who have completed an externship. All applicants are required to maintain a minimum 3.25 and we accept applicants from all 8 podiatry schools. The residency selection committee is made up of our second-year residents and attendings from each of the three consortium hospitals. Interviews are 20 minutes in length and consist of both academic and social sections. We hold a social event for all Kaiser Permanente applicants at CRIP.
