Mission Statement
As Obstetrics and Gynecology Residents, we have collectively put forth these goals and ideals for our four years of training:
Academics
We strive to create an enthusiastic learning environment that is both challenging and supportive in order to promote the continual growth of our students, residents, and mentors. We will emphasize evidence-based clinical practice and involvement in institutional quality improvement efforts.
Patient Care
We strive to provide high-quality, compassionate, and language-appropriate care for our multicultural patient population. We will place emphasis on shared decision-making and patient experience. We will continue to extend our care beyond the Kaiser membership through volunteering and community outreach.
Colleagues
We believe that providing excellent patient care requires a multidisciplinary team and strive to honor each team member’s contribution. We recognize that our lives outside of residency influence our working relationships and strive to support each other in finding joy both inside and outside of medicine.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We recognize that systemic racism and biases significantly harm the health and safety of our colleagues, patients, and community members who identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+. We acknowledge that the practice of medicine, especially obstetrics and gynecology, is rooted deeply in structural inequity and believe that it is our duty as residents to advocate against discriminatory policies and practices. As a program, we strive to welcome and honor students, residents, and mentors of all backgrounds and to actively combat structural and interpersonal discrimination.
We will re-evaluate and refine these goals on a yearly basis to become outstanding and compassionate physicians in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
