REPRESENT

REPRESENT was created for Pre-Medical undergraduate students that are traditionally under-represented in medicine. We currently serve students that are from or are currently in school within Santa Clara, Santa Cruz or Monterey Counties. REPRESENT students will have opportunities and mentorship throughout their undergraduate experience to support them on their journey to medical school acceptance.

PROGRAMS

Outreach: meet physicians at regional recruitment events
Doctor Chats: talk to a physician over the phone or meet for coffee
College Seminars: take a college seminar taught by a Permanente Medicine physician at one of our partner academic institutions
Clinical Experiences: volunteer at health education events with Permanente Medicine physicians, participate in clinical shadowing
Research Internship: participate in an intensive 1:1 literature research project with an assigned physician mentor (recommended for advanced students)

REPRESENT Program Attestation Statement

By signing below, I attest that I am currently a student from Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, or Monterey County, or I am currently attending school in one of these counties. I acknowledge that I am considered an underrepresented student in the medical school community. I understand that the REPRESENT Program offers a maximum of 8 hours of doctor shadowing, provided by physicians who volunteer their time to support this initiative. I acknowledge that my specific field of interest may not be available when I am paired with a physician for my shadowing experience. I also understand that this program may have a waitlist of up to 6 months, and I commit to responding to all emails and meeting all requirements within the deadlines provided in future communications. I acknowledge that failure to respond within the stated timeframes may delay my participation or result in disqualification from the program.
