Medical Residency Applicants
Applications are accepted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service), sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges.
OBGYN applications are accepted through the ResidencyCAS (Centralized Application System)
After you have created your online application on ERAS, you will need to register for the match at NRMP (National Resident Matching Program) and look for the individual program(s) with which you would like to match.
PGY 1 applicants are required to submit:
- ERAS Application or ResidencyCAS (for OBGYN applicants)
- Personal statement/biography
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical school transcript
- Dean’s letter
- Letters of reference from three faculty members (clinical years)
- MDs: USMLE Steps 1 & 2 Clinical Knowledge
- DOs: COMLEX Level 1 and 2 Cognitive Evaluation
PGY 2 applicants are required to submit all of the above, plus:
- Letter from current program director
Note: Some programs may require supplemental applications as permitted in ERAS.

International Applicants
Applications are accepted through ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). In addition to the minimum requirements for medical residency applicants, international students are required to submit a Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) Certificate.
The ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) has an excellent FAQ that describes the entire application process for both American/Canadian graduates and foreign medical graduates.

Podiatric Surgery Applicants
Our podiatric surgery programs accept applications through the Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies (CASPR) and interview potential residents at the Centralized Residency Interview Program (CRIP).

- To be eligible for a training license in California, you must have received all of your medical school education and graduated from a medical school recognized by the Board.
