Current Residents & Fellows- Leadership Series for Residents and Fellows - Residents as Educators: Empowering PGY-1s for Success

Designed to prepare first-year residents become effective clinical teachers.

March 4 or 6, 2026

Location: Virtual, MS Teams
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Tentative)

The transition from PGY-1 to PGY-2 can be both exciting and challenging. To support this important learning transition, the Residents as Educators workshop equips residents with the skills to become confident and effective clinical teachers. Grounded in the evidence-based principles of the Stanford Clinical Teaching Program, this interactive experience translates adult learning theory into practical strategies that elevate teaching in real-world clinical settings.

Participants will learn how to:
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Deliver constructive, actionable feedback
• Integrate teaching into daily workflows
• Approach teaching with intentionality and continuous improvement

The workshop is highly engaging, featuring reflective exercises, video-based learning, small-group discussions, and role-play scenarios. By investing in these skills early, we cultivate a culture of mentorship and excellence that strengthens the entire GME community and drives exceptional, equitable patient care for every member we serve.

Open Registration: December 8 – February 18, 2026 (extended)

The form is now closed. Registration for the next PGY-1 course will open in spring 2027.
