Peripheral Nerve Surgery and Microsurgery Fellowship

Welcome to the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Peripheral Nerve Surgery and Microsurgery Fellowship

Kaiser Permanente Northern California is recruiting the inaugural fellow of Peripheral Nerve and Microsurgery fellowship program beginning July 1, 2028. The Peripheral Nerve and Microsurgery Fellowship Program is a one-year program designed to provide comprehensive clinical and surgical experience in peripheral nerve and microsurgical reconstruction. Our mission is to train the next generation of leaders in peripheral nerve surgery and microsurgery, regardless of training background in Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, or Orthopedic Surgery. Leveraging our multi-site integrated health system, with seamless collaboration across specialties, our fellowship will deliver on training technically excellent, collaborative, and ethical surgeons committed to advancing the field.

Fellows will gain an exceptional, high-volume, and truly multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis, non-surgical, and surgical management of the full spectrum of nerve pathology as well as soft tissue problems. In line with our organizational infrastructure and integrated health model, fellows will gain competency through multidisciplinary exposure to experts across Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Electrophysiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as interventional Anesthesiology.

The curriculum has been designed with no call requirements for the fellow and minimal administrative burden to facilitate cultivation of technical excellence in preparation for unsupervised independent clinical practice. At the conclusion of the program, fellows will be able to demonstrate skills and competencies in the following curricula: Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Professionalism, and Systems-based Practice.

We will accept one fellow per year. We are primarily based at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City with core rotational experiences at Kaiser San Francisco and Oakland and the rest of Kaiser Permanente in the Bay Area. Application submissions through CAS begin in January 2027.
