I am finally leaving for Ugenya, Kenya! After a lot of detours (due to the volcano in Iceland) I am going to be in Nairobi (with a lay over in Qatar) on Sunday. Please check out the website for Matibabu to see how you can also be involved.
Just some statistics so that you may know the community as I know it now…and hopefully in a couple of days, I can put some beautiful faces to those numbers.
Population 180,752 people (45,188 women and •36,150 children <5 yo)
•170 health workers
•60% living below poverty line
•HIV prevalence 28%
•Maternal mortality 700/100,000
•<5 yo mortality 102/1000
Lisa, It was lovely seeing you serve our people from the heart. Welcome again
