Every week on Tuesdays, we have a half-day academic seminar of protected time for interactive teaching. A tradition since 2005, “Teaching Tuesday” provides a safe learning environment where residents are free of patient care responsibilities. Regular features of Teaching Tuesday include clinical problem-solving series, didactic lectures, resident presentations, Journal Club, lectures on Equity, Inclusion and Diversity and Quality Improvement, simulation sessions with mannequins for mock code blue drills, and occasional small group procedure and POCUS skills days.
Lastly, this regular resident gathering has proven to be invaluable in promoting camaraderie, soliciting resident feedback, and consensus building for program improvement efforts.
