Division of Research (DOR)
The Division of Research (DOR) conducts, publishes, and disseminates high-quality epidemiologic and health services research to improve the health and medical care of Kaiser Permanente members and society at large. It seeks to understand the determinants of illness and well being and to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care. To accomplish these goals, the DOR is committed to providing a supportive research environment that fosters independent thinking, creativity, continued learning and adherence to the highest scientific standards.
DOR Biostatistical Consulting
The Division of Research Biostatistical Consulting Unit provides biostatistical and analytic consulting services to residents, and includes advice on statistical methods, power and sample size estimation and feasibility, IRB applications, access to Kaiser Permanente databases, programming of data analysis, interpretation of results, manuscript development and recommendations for revising biostatistical methodology and results sections in publication drafts.
Resident Research
Many of our programs have a research requirement built into their curriculum. At Kaiser Permanenete we strongly encourage our residents to conduct research. We provide support in the form of:
- a dedicated research Project Manager at each site to provide support to residents and faculty for research, process and quality improvement projects
- access to research statisticians from The Division of Research (DOR)
- our Resident Research Course which explains how to take a research project from idea to publication, funding for residents who wish to present their research at regional and national meetings, and forums for our residents to present their findings to their peers

Internship Opportunity
The Napa-Solano Family Medicine program offers a Public Health Research Internship program to undergraduate and graduate students. The program is based in Vallejo, California.
